The PWHL: Why It's Set to Become the Most Successful Women's Sports League

Image
As the world of women's sports continues to gain momentum, the creation of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) marks a pivotal moment in the growth of female athletics. With the backing of some of the most influential sports organizations, including the National Hockey League (NHL), and a powerful network of corporate sponsorships, the PWHL is poised to become the most successful women’s sports league in history. Here’s why.  1. Backed by Strong Financial Support One of the major factors that sets the PWHL apart from previous women's sports leagues is the substantial financial backing it enjoys. The league has garnered support from the NHL and other prominent investors, ensuring a strong economic foundation from the very beginning. This financial stability is critical in fostering long-term growth, providing players with competitive salaries, top-tier facilities, and the resources necessary to build a league that can compete with other professional sports. The NH...

Will OBJ Make the Hall of Fame?

Image
After years of being a fan favorite, and one of the most entertaining characters in the NFL, Odell Beckham Jr's time in the league is slowly coming to an end. After being released by the Miami Dolphins, with only 9 receptions and 55 yards, some people are starting pose the question: Is it time for Odell to hang up the cleats? And I beg the question, will he make the Pro Football Hall of Fame?     The Average NFL receiver that makes the Hall of Fame, has about 12,000-14,000 career yards and 80-120 touchdowns. Odell Beckham Jr has 7,987 career yards and 59 career touchdowns, both below the average for a HOF receiver. But stats aren't the only thing that matters in this case. Odell has five 1000+ yard seasons, 3 Pro Bowls, is a Super Bowl champion, and won 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year. Between his stats and long list of accolades, is it enough for a golden jacket? In my personal opinion, yes, but Odell has not officially called it quits, so there may be ...

Why Marvin Harrison Jr has NOT Been a Let Down.

Image
Coming into the latest draft, many people saw Marvin Harrison Jr as the most entertaining player, athletic, and overall, the best receiver in the draft. Now In week 16 of the 2024 NFL season, many fans and critics are starting to show their doubts for the young receiver; but I think he has still shown out this season and deserves his recognition. Marvin, as of week 16, has had 726 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns; not bad, but not quite the put out that many people where expecting, but this may not be is fault. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has only passed for 16 touchdowns, meaning Marvin Harrison Jr has almost half of those, Kyler also has a favorite target and his name is not Marvin Harrison Jr, it’s Trey McBride. Trey has double the amount of receptions as Marvin with 92. Marvin Harrison Jr is a young receiver, who is growing into an offensive where he is not the number one option but is still giving an admirable output. But where does he stand amongst other rookie receivers? ...

Would the NFL Benefit With a Developmental League?

The NFL is the only league out of the big four American sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL) to not have a minor league affiliate or a developmental league. The NFL could have more success on the monastery side with a developmental league, they already have designated teams and fan bases that could support team affiliates, they wouldn’t need to build new stadiums or facilities, and they wouldn’t need to worry about building team identity. Many people worry that if the NFL were to have and affiliated league that no one would watch it, as if the NFL wasn’t on, people will just watch college, but there is one day a week when there is no college or professional football being played. If this hypothetical minor league only played on Wednesdays they would have to worry about competing with other games to be seen on television as no one else plays on a Wednesday. But the most important question to NFL executives, is it profitable? Yes. The MLB on average generates 25 million dollars a year fro...

Is Bowers the ROTY?

Image
Brock Bowers has shown in and out signs of becoming the next great tight end. After his week 16 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he crossed the 1,000 yard mark, having a total of 99 yards in the night, just barely missing the 100 yard mark. Other rookies have been inconsistent in their showings, such as Commanders rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels, who had a hot start to the season but has since cooled off in recent games, not quite showing off his athletic ability as of late. Broncos rookie quarterback has had the opposite problem, having a slow start to the season, but progressively heating up. Out of all the candidates, Brock Bowers has been the only consistent one. Brock Bowers has some really impressive stats, not just as a rookie or a tight end, but stats of a pro bowl receiver. Bowers has racked up 101 receptions, 1,067 yards, and 4 scores. Bowers has also produced six 90+ yard games, his highest being 140 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. Bowers has broken the rookie...

Bijan’s Sneaky Rise and Progression

Image
In 2023 Bijan Robinson was dominating the rookie of the year race, before being overtaken by Texans rookie CJ Stroud. Many NFL fans agreed he had declined in production in the late stretch of his rookie season. Although it is true he ran for less yards as the season went on, he still finished the season with a modest 976 rushing yards and 487 receiving yards (1,463 total).    Robinson has slipped by many NFL fans a dominant running back this season, rushing for 1,102 yards, which is good for 5th in the league, and 8 scores on the ground. Bijan has ran for 90+ yard on 7 different occasions this season. Many people also fail to recognize he is an elite receiver out of the back field racking up 54 receptions and 411 yard so far in the season. many people have disregarded Bijan Robinson as a top back in the league, but the production is there and the falcon runningback deserves a trip to the pro bowl this season.

What Is Belichick Without Brady?

Image
Bill Belichick has recently agreed to coach at the University of North Coralina. Many are happy to see Bill calling the shots for a team again, others think he is above the job. A recurring discussion is if whether or not Belichick is the hall of fame coach as his resume implies or is he a product of the greatest player of all time.     Bill started his coaching carrier as an assistant coach for the Baltimore Colts in 1975. Bill would bounce around teams for the next ten years as an assistant coach or a position coach until 1985 when he became the defensive coordinator for the Giants. In that time, he coached the greatest linebacker of all time, Lawrnce Taylor, He would also win two Superbowls with the team. After his time with the Giants was over, he would take his first head coach position with the Cleveland Browns. He coached for the Browns for 4 years, accumulating a 36-44 record in his time in Cleveland.     Everyone knows about Belic...

The Most Complete Offense In The NFL

Image
Most offenses in the NFL have a star in a few key positions, like a star running back, receiver, or a quarterback; very few include a pro-bowl caliber player in every position of the offense. As for the Detroit Lions, they are that few, leading to them having the best record in the NFC. The Lions have the best set of running backs with power back David Montgomery and young sensation Jahmir Gibbs. The duo has a combined 2,138 total yards and 24 touchdowns in only 13 games together.  As for the Lions passing game, 9th year quarterback Jared Goff has had a phenomenal season so far, making a loud statement for that MVP award. Goff has passed for 3,296 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Lions number one option through the air, Amon-Ra St Brown, is having quite the season. So far in the season St Browm has accumulated 863 yards and is tied for 2nd in the league in receiving touchdowns with 9. Lining up in the wide receiver two spot, Jameson Williams, has racked up 710 ya...

Why Cam Ward Should Be Your First Overall Pick

Image
With the Raiders now obtaining the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, after falling to 2-11 after this week's game against the Buccaneers; many people see Shedeur Sanders as the consensus first overall pick. Afterall the Colorado QB is capping off an incredible season and career with the Buffs. Finishing this last season with 3,296 passing yards, 35 touchdowns through the air, and 8 interceptions.  The problem with many people's draft boards is they forget about the quarterback out east who had 127 more passing yards, less interceptions and the highest QBR in the nation. Cam Ward is the most complete quarterback in this year's draft; he has an almost ideal frame at 6'2 and 225 LBS and is easily the best dual-threat quarterback in recent years, he possesses one of the best deep ball throwing capabilities, is the most accurate QB with an 88 QBR, and has an unmatched pocket presence.     The Miami quarterback will be headed to New York this w...

Beavers Fall to 4-5

Image
After failing to score in the 4th quarter, the Oregon State Beavers would fall to the San Jose State Spartans. The Beavers now having a losing record for the first time this season. Oregon State started out the season 4-1 with their only loss to the now #1 ranked Ducks, have fallen to 4-5 after losing 4 straight games. Oregon State QB Ben Gulbranson threw for an impressive 292 yards but failed to get into the endzone. Oregon State's star RB, Anthony Hankerson had a game with 121 yards on the ground and the Beavers sole touchdown. The Beavers will face off against Air Force next Saturday with a chance to brin their record back to .500.

The Oregon Ducks Advance To 10-0

For the first time since the 2012 season, the Oregon Ducks have reached the 10-0 mark after defeating fellow BIG10 opponent, Maryland, 18 -39. Along with the historical night for the program, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has become the all-time NCAA FBS leader in touchdowns, with a total of 179, 147 through the air and an additional 32 rushing TDs.
